Student Handbook

BYU-Pathway Worldwide Mission Statement:

BYU-Pathway Worldwide was founded and is supported and guided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Its mission is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ who are leaders in their homes, the Church, and their communities.

The organization does this by:

  1. Helping students get the gospel down into their hearts
  2. Helping them become capable learners
  3. Preparing them to lead and support families

BYU-Pathway Worldwide is designed to provide access to higher education wherever the Church is organized.  BYU-Pathway starts by preparing students through life-skills development and English-language learning. It also provides access to appropriate certificate and degree programs by coordinating and leveraging curriculum from across the Church Educational System (CES).

BYU-Pathway Worldwide Handbook

The work of BYU-Pathway Worldwide is meaningful and has the potential to significantly change the lives of those involved. Through the blessings of technology and the work of dedicated service missionaries, priesthood leaders, and BYU-Pathway employees and CES affiliates, the Church is using this program to provide a path to abundant educational and spiritual blessings for thousands of members.

As participants in this work, we must learn our respective duties and seek to fulfill them. The information presented in this handbook can facilitate revelation when it is used to provide an understanding of principles, policies, and procedures while seeking the guidance of the Spirit.

This handbook is a guide primarily for local service missionaries. It may also be helpful for BYU-Pathway Worldwide administration, BYU-Pathway students, stake presidents, institute coordinators, Area Seventies, and other local leaders. The first section presents some background for BYU-Pathway Worldwide and its programs. The other sections provide principles, guidelines, and instructions for both administering and ministering in the program.

Updates to Handbook

Occasionally the information in this handbook will be updated through email notices from BYU-Pathway Worldwide. Because updates will occur, it is not recommended to print the handbooks in their entirety. If an individual does choose to print the handbook, previous versions should be discarded when updates are made.

Questions About Instructions

Missionaries and local leaders should direct questions about information in this handbook, or about items not addressed, to their BYU-Pathway area manager.
