Faced with providing for his family at a young age, Kondwani found success and opportunity through BYU-Pathway
My story is one of resilience, growth, and transformation, showcasing the impact that education can have on an individual's life and opportunities.
Originally from Malawi, my journey to South Africa in 2017 was motivated by a deep sense of responsibility toward my family. After the unfortunate loss of my father and sister, and as the eldest of my six siblings, I shouldered the responsibility of providing for my family. After relocating to South Africa, I initially found work as a general gardener, striving to alleviate the financial burdens of my family back home.
My background in customer service caught the attention of Linden Guest House, leading to my hire as a receptionist in July 2017. This opportunity provided a steady income, enabling me to support my family, cover essential expenses, and pay school fees for two of my siblings.
However, God wanted more for me.
A new chance
In 2022, a new chapter unfolded in my life when I enrolled in
Dedicated and committed, I excelled in my studies and received outstanding grades upon completing foundational
Growing opportunities
The expertise gained from my certificate proved invaluable when, in December 2023, my manager relocated to Israel and entrusted me with overseeing the guest house.
Recognizing my business and leadership abilities, this promotion elevated my role to assistant manager. Under my stewardship, the guest house has continued to thrive. Through this experience I was able to showcase my ability to manage and navigate challenges effectively — skills that I sharpened through BYU-Pathway.
Looking to the future
While my income has improved, I remain driven by a desire for continual growth and improvement. My journey with BYU-Pathway has not only enhanced my professional prospects but has also enriched my spiritual life, instilling values of integrity, diligence, and perseverance — skills I want to continue to develop.
As I continue to make strides in my career and personal development, my story serves as a testament to the transformative power of education and the opportunities afforded by institutions like BYU-Pathway.
