Three insights from the School of the Prophets can help you access the Lord’s power to succeed
After the Church of Jesus Christ had been restored, the Lord directed the early Saints to establish a school for those preparing for missionary service — a school that was later named the School of the Prophets.

Both types of learning, secular and spiritual, are important to help us grow. As we seek truth, the Lord promises that we will be prepared to do all He asks of us, including serving in our families and the Church.

Andrea May Derla
from the Philippines, the secular skills she learned through BYU-Pathway — like improving her English and giving quality presentations — helped her teach the gospel and connect with others on her mission. She said, “I decided to enroll in BYU-Pathway because I wanted to spend my time learning in a spiritually-based environment while preparing for a full-time mission.”
2. Seek opportunities to teach others
The Lord encouraged the missionaries to share what they were learning with others: “Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly.”

Teaching is one of the most effective ways to reinforce what you’re learning personally. The next time you want to test your knowledge on a particular subject, share what you’re learning with your peers, friends, and family. As you do, the Lord will help you to communicate what you’ve learned and better understand your studies.
3. Keep your body healthy
The School of the Prophets was held in a room above the Newel K. Whitney and Company store.
In the School of the Prophets, the Lord commanded Church members to seek foods that strengthen the body — vegetables, fruits, and grains — and to avoid harmful substances like tobacco and alcohol. This law of health became known as the Word of Wisdom.

To those who obey these principles, the Lord promises
Health, knowledge, and energy are all blessings students need! As you take time to care for your body as the gift that it is, you will be better able to recognize the Spirit and receive personal guidance in your schoolwork.
The Lord will multiply your efforts
You are learning in the Lord’s way as you seek both secular and spiritual truth, teach others, and keep your body healthy. In truth, the Lord promises many beautiful blessings and will multiply your efforts.
