3,978 Students to Complete Online Certificates and Degrees

At the conclusion of Winter Semester 2024 (Jan.–Apr.), 3,978 students are anticipated to have completed an online certificate or degree from BYU-Idaho or Ensign College, supported by BYU-Pathway Worldwide.

Among the students who completed online certificates and/or degrees are 3,461 PathwayConnect completers. Of all awarded students, 782 earned a bachelor’s degree, 587 earned an associate degree, and 3,698 completed a certificate. These students represent 104 countries and 49 U.S. states.

Since 2009, 48,982 certificates and degrees have been earned through BYU-Pathway.

Commencement

BYU-Idaho and Ensign College will hold commencement services for graduates on Thursday, April 11 (MDT/UTC-6).

BYU-Idaho’s graduation will be at 12:45 p.m. in the I-Center as well as a livestream . Sister Tracy Y. Browning, Second Counselor in the Primary General Presidency, is the guest speaker.

Ensign College’s graduation will be at 10:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake Tabernacle or via the Church’s livestream (in English, Spanish, and Portuguese). Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the guest speaker, and online student Afokwalam Ugochukwu will also speak.

Graduate Spotlight: Ale Angulo

Ale Angulo from Costa Rica joined BYU-Pathway to help her transition to college after returning from a mission. As a first-generation college student who immigrated to the United States, Ale faced many challenges on her way to a degree. But after a lot of hard work and faith, she graduates with a bachelor’s degree in family and human services today from BYU-Idaho!

She said, “After my mission, I was lost and didn’t know what to do. Now I know I want to go to law school! I’m so happy the Church gave me the opportunity to get a great education through BYU-Pathway.”
