Tanise Chung-Hoon will join BYU-Pathway Worldwide as vice president of advancement. She has served as the managing director of Philanthropies for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 2013.

As managing director, Chung-Hoon oversees efforts to facilitate philanthropic giving to First Presidency-approved priorities in the Church and its affiliated organizations, including its institutions of higher education. She will move into her role as BYU-Pathway vice president of advancement in the next couple of months as she works to ensure a smooth leadership transition at Philanthropies.

She succeeds Matt Eyring, who will move into the newly created position of vice president of career development. In her new role, Chung-Hoon will use her extensive development experience to build relationships and increase engagement opportunities in support of BYU-Pathway’s rapidly growing student body, which reached nearly 89,000 students in 2025.

“We are grateful to have Tanise in this role,” said Brian K. Ashton, president of BYU-Pathway. “Her vision and experience will help establish and manage a global storehouse — connecting individuals who are ready to consecrate their time and talents to bless learners, leaders, and communities around the world.”

Chung-Hoon said she is excited to work more directly with the Church Educational System and witness firsthand the impact of gospel-centered education.

“I’m looking forward to joining the BYU-Pathway Worldwide team,” she said. “It’s an inspiring prospect to continue working with remarkable people who are sharing time and talents, in addition to their resources, to bless students throughout the world. I’ve been able to observe the essential role BYU-Pathway is playing in building the kingdom as the Lord hastens His work through gathering people and talent to work together.

“We are witnessing a season of acceleration,” she continued. “Serving as advancement vice president excites me because of how education and employment transform communities and countries and bless God’s children throughout the world.”

Chung-Hoon earned a bachelor’s degree in business finance from BYU and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Utah. In 2005, she earned a Ph.D. in educational administration from BYU, with an emphasis in organizational strategy and philanthropy.

Under her leadership, Philanthropies grew to more than 1.5 million in their constituency. While many projects and programs were expanded, the most valuable outcome has been relational engagement and growth in the number and quality of contributor networks. To facilitate that growth, Chung-Hoon emphasized the concept of “One Work” — a comprehensive view of contributing centered on inspired and transformational giving experiences. Donors and friends gained a clearer understanding of the importance of their engagement through integrated efforts that extended beyond financial contributions alone.
