Devotional Speakers for Spring Semester 2021

BYU‑Pathway Worldwide monthly devotionals are designed to complement the student experience by fostering greater faith and discipleship in Jesus Christ. Students across the world have been inspired by these uplifting messages.

This semester, devotionals will feature the following speakers and General Authorities and Officers of the Church:

  • April 27: Brother Milton Camargo, Sunday School General Presidency
  • May 25: Elder Vern P. Stanfill, General Authority Seventy
  • June 15: Elder Clark G. Gilbert, BYU‑Pathway Worldwide President
  • July 13: Sister Sheri Dew, executive vice president of Deseret Management Corporation and CEO of Deseret Book Company

Devotionals typically last 5–7 minutes and can be viewed at 4:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) at byupathway.edu/speeches or on the BYU‑Pathway Facebook page . PathwayConnect students responsible for leading the lesson in their weekly gathering that week will facilitate a discussion around topics shared in the devotional. All participants are invited to watch, share, and discuss these inspiring messages.

About the Devotional Speakers

Milton Camargo
Milton Camargo is the First Counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency and currently works as the vice president of curriculum at BYU‑Pathway Worldwide. He previously served as an Area Seventy and a mission president. Brother Camargo studied civil engineering at Instituto Militar De Engenharia and earned an MBA from Brigham Young University. He and his wife, Patricia, are the parents of three children.

Vern P. Stanfill
Vern P. Stanfill currently serves as a General Authority Seventy and as First Counselor in the North America Southeast Area Presidency. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics at Brigham Young University. Throughout his career, he has managed his family’s ranch, assets, and trusts, as well as a portfolio of investments and philanthropic and estate matters. Elder Stanfill is also a pilot and has been involved in aviation for both business and pleasure. He and his wife, Alicia, are the parents of four children.

Clark G. Gilbert
Clark G. Gilbert is the president of BYU‑Pathway Worldwide and was sustained as a General Authority Seventy in April 2021. President Gilbert previously served as the president of BYU‑Idaho, as well as the president and CEO of Deseret News and Deseret Digital Media. He earned a master’s degree in East Asian studies from Stanford University and a doctorate in business administration from Harvard University. President Gilbert and his wife, Christine, are the parents of eight children.

Sheri Dew
Sheri Dew is the executive vice president of the Deseret Management Corporation and the president and CEO of the Deseret Book Company. She previously served in the Relief Society General Presidency. As an American author and publisher, she wrote Insights from a Prophet’s Life, a biography of President Russell M. Nelson. Sister Dew has a bachelor’s degree in history from Brigham Young University. She is also a breast cancer survivor and an advocate for promoting early detection of the disease.
