558 Online Degree-Seeking Students to Graduate This Week

At the conclusion of Spring Semester 2017, 558 online degree-seeking students will complete a degree or certificate from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Among these individuals are 345 former PathwayConnect students. 184 of the graduates plan to attend the ceremonies live July 18 on the BYU-Idaho campus.

Of the 558 students completing a degree or certificate through BYU-Idaho, 370 are earning a bachelor’s degree, 158 are earning an associate degree, and 30 are completing a certificate. Students completing a degree or certificate represent 12 countries and 40 U.S. states.

In addition, more than 6,400 students will complete PathwayConnect this semester.

Since PathwayConnect started in 2009, 30,041 will have completed the program. Including the most recent totals, 2,218 BYU-Idaho degrees and certificates have been awarded to PathwayConnect graduates.

“It is humbling and exciting to see so many individuals earning online degrees and certificates through BYU-Idaho,” said dean of online programs, Kendall Peck. “We know the Lord has blessed them, and will continue to bless them, for the effort they have put forth to pursue an education.”

Students traveling to Rexburg, Idaho, for the commencement ceremony will be coming from 24 different states and three countries — students will travel as far from Amherst, Massachusetts; Accra, Ghana; and Cuzco, Peru.

“PathwayConnect was a blessing. It offered me the opportunity to attend school online at an affordable tuition rate. My experience was supportive, loving, and fun,” said Sara Henderson, a general studies major from Nevada. “Completing PathwayConnect proved to me that I could do something hard and prepared me for continuing my online degree through BYU-Idaho. My testimony has been strengthened along with my confidence.”

The upcoming academic term for PathwayConnect and BYU-Idaho online courses begins September 11. PathwayConnect is accepting applications for September enrollment until August 22, and BYU-Idaho is accepting applications to its online degree program until August 1.
