
BYU-Pathway Worldwide monthly devotionals complement the student experience by fostering greater faith and discipleship in Jesus Christ. Devotionals launch on Fridays and are available with translated voiceover and captions in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French.
Devotional Speakers
The upcoming devotionals will feature the following speakers and General Authorities and Officers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:
- September 5: President Brian K. Ashton and Sister Melinda Ashton, BYU-Pathway Worldwide
- October 3: Elder I. Raymond Egbo, of the Seventy
- October 31: Elder David A. Bednar, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
- November 28: Sister Heather Ugege, Director of EnglishConnect
Devotionals typically last 7–10 minutes and can be viewed on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. (MDT/UTC-6) on the BYU-Pathway Facebook page and later on the BYU-Pathway speeches page.
Students responsible for leading the lesson in their gathering that week will facilitate a discussion around topics shared in the devotional. All participants are invited to watch, share, and discuss these inspiring messages.
About the Speakers
President Brian K. and Sister Melinda Ashton

Brian K. Ashton is the president of BYU-Pathway Worldwide and previously served as vice president of field operations. Receiving his bachelor’s degree from BYU and MBA degree from Harvard University, President Ashton has started several companies. He served as the Second Counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency from 2015–2019.
Melinda Ashton graduated from BYU and later attended medical school in Chicago. She served in the Spain Malaga Mission. President and Sister Ashton are the parents of seven children and presided over the Texas Houston South Mission.
Elder I. Raymond and Sister Comfort Ese Egbo

Idyo Raymond Egbo is a General Authority Seventy and previously served as an Area Seventy in the Africa West Area. After discovering the Church through seminary and being baptized at 14, he has worked in various positions for Seminaries and Institutes of Religion since 2002. Elder Egbo earned his associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees from three universities.
Comfort Ese Egbo previously served as an institute teacher and branch missionary. In 2003, she and Elder Egbo were married in Calabar, Nigeria. They are the parents of three children and presided over the Nigeria Calabar Mission.
Elder David A. Bednar

Elder David A. Bednar is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and previously served as an Area Authority Seventy. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from BYU and a doctorate in organizational behavior from Purdue University. He previously served as the president of BYU-Idaho and taught as a professor of business management at Texas Tech University and the University of Arkansas. He and his wife, Susan, are the parents of three sons.
Sister Heather Ugege

Heather Ugege serves as the director of EnglishConnect, a program provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to offer English learning and teaching opportunities around the world. Heather is dedicated to helping others experience their potential through language learning. She received a master’s degree in teaching English as a second language and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from BYU. She and her husband, Elvis, live in Salt Lake City, Utah.
