Ghanaian choir of online and PathwayConnect students perform through live stream at BYU-Idaho Devotional

The historic performance marks the first time a PathwayConnect choir has participated in a BYU-Idaho devotional

A choir of PathwayConnect and BYU-Idaho online-degree-seeking students from Accra, Ghana, performed live through video stream during a Brigham Young University-Idaho devotional on Tuesday, April 25.

A BYU-Idaho video crew streamed the performance from an institute building near the Accra Ghana Temple to the BYU-Idaho Center in Rexburg, Idaho, where Sister Rosemary Wixom, former general Primary president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was the devotional speaker.

“We have wanted to do a performance like this for years to demonstrate the power Pathway has to unite students from around the world,” said Pathway Managing Director J.D. Griffith. “In many ways, PathwayConnect is one big international campus, and with the announcement of BYU-Pathway Worldwide, it was fitting to have students from Ghana perform in a BYU-Idaho devotional.”

Ghana was among the first countries outside of the United States to launch Pathway in 2011. Since then, seven more PathwayConnect locations have been opened in Ghana, most recently in Kumasi and Adenta in January 2017.
