With God's Help, Anything is Possible

Kandi Sue Taylor is counting the blessings she's received because of BYU-Pathway, including these three miracles

My name is Kandi Sue Taylor. I’m 51 years old, have been married for 30 years, and my husband and I just became grandparents.

When my mother-in-law was dying of cancer, she was still doing school through BYU-Pathway Worldwide , and I felt like I was being told, “If she can do this, there’s no reason you can’t do this.” Then while watching the April 2024 general conference, I felt like I was being told, "Go to school." At first, I resisted these promptings, especially since I did not enjoy school growing up.

Finally, I couldn’t ignore the promptings any longer, and I enrolled in BYU-Pathway — I even surprised my husband!

When I sit down and think about my journey with education, I can go back through my life and see miracles from God every step of the way.

Miracle 1: High school graduation

Like I said, growing up, I did not have a good relationship with school. In high school, I kept failing a test I needed to pass in order to graduate. I didn’t feel smart, and I lost any self-esteem I had.

The last chance I had to take the test, my whole ward fasted for me. When I took the test, it felt like God was giving me the answers. The results came back and my principal said, “You didn't just pass, you went past the requirements.”

It was a miracle; I know God helped me to do well on the test.

Miracle 2: Gaining self-esteem

BYU-Pathway has helped me to continue my success story with school because it taught me, “You know, you can do this, and you know that God is more than willing to help you in any way possible.”

At first, starting PathwayConnect was rough because I didn’t know how to use Zoom or access the learning systems. I was just about to quit, but my husband and missionaries taught me how to use the technology. Within the first six weeks of BYU-Pathway, I began to realize that I could do it, and my self-esteem started to go up.

Miracle 3: Support from friends, family, and God

God has had a huge impact in my life, and religion courses have helped me to grow closer to Him. Starting to not only read the scriptures, but to understand them, has really helped me to feel God's support.

The friends I’ve made at BYU-Pathway have also been a huge support for me. In one of my courses, I worked on a project with a group of classmates. They walked me through the whole thing, and it really put my mind at ease.

Get support from your family, your friends, your church, whoever. They will help you accomplish things you couldn’t do on your own.

God is always there

Enrolling in BYU-Pathway has helped me to see that I am much stronger and smarter than I ever gave myself credit for. I know Heavenly Father still performs miracles. He's always been there. He's always helping.

To anyone who is thinking about doing BYU-Pathway, trust God and let Him hold your hand through it. I promise you, with His help, you can do this.
