Peace During Any Challenge

Learn how three BYU-Pathway students found peace through Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ taught His disciples, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” 1 Even when we experience heartache, pain, or difficulty, the Lord’s promise of peace is sure. Learn how three BYU-Pathway Worldwide students found peace during their challenges.

Involve Heavenly Father

Michaëlle Lafontant, enrolled in BYU-Pathway with the goal of becoming self-reliant and learning new skills to bless others.

Whenever Michaëlle felt stressed about school, she involved Heavenly Father in her learning by praying for help and listening to the Spirit. As she did this, she “received peace and courage to press forward.”

Reflecting on her experience during school, Michaëlle said, “Heavenly Father cares about my education.” He also cares about your education and will bless you with peace and courage through the challenges you may face — especially as you seek Him.

Read the words of Christ

After Kabeya Konyi returned home from his mission, he experienced challenges that made him lose hope of his dream to attend university. But, one morning, Kabeya prayed, and he later said, “Deep in my heart, I felt peace.”

In the same moment, Kabeya felt prompted to read Ether 12:27 , which taught him to trust in the Lord and gave him hope during a time of uncertainty. Kabeya’s dream became a reality when he enrolled in BYU-Pathway Worldwide.

During times of uncertainty in your life, you, too, can find hope and peace through reading Christ’s words in the scriptures.

Christ will come to you

Before enrolling in BYU-Pathway, Jenifer Marie was overwhelmed with the demands of raising a family and felt consumed by fear. “I could not bear it any longer,” she said. “Something made me kneel in prayer and cry my heart out to God.” While she didn’t receive an immediate answer right then, “I felt better after,” she said.

Not many days later, two sister missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stopped by Jenifer’s home. “They led me, and my family, to Christ,” she said.

As Jenifer learned to rely on Jesus Christ, she gained the peace she had been searching for. Jenifer, with her family, joined the Church of Jesus Christ.

Just as the Savior sent the missionaries to Jenifer, He may use messengers in your life to offer His gift of peace.

Find peace in Christ

Michaëlle, Kabeya, and Jenifer each worked to build their relationships with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and each one was blessed with peace when they needed it. Similarly, as we look to Them by praying, reading the scriptures, and listening to the Spirit, we will find peace when we need it most.
