Learn how you can find more strength through building your faith in Jesus Christ
In 1829, Mary and Peter Whitmer invited Joseph and Emma Smith and Oliver Cowdery to move into their log home. Their invitation gave Joseph a safe place to finish translating the gold plates into the Book of Mormon.

Mary already had a full workload caring for her home and family, and sometimes the added work from the guests felt like too much.

Like Mary, you may feel tired and overworked at times — especially when adding schoolwork to your long list of responsibilities.
Receive a witness
Moroni showing Mary the plates
Mary Whitmer and Moroni, by Robert Pack
One day, Mary was outside milking the cows when the angel Moroni appeared. Knowing she was tired from the added work, Moroni said, “You have been very faithful and diligent in your labors. It is proper, therefore, that you should receive a witness that your faith may be strengthened."

He then showed Mary the gold plates that Joseph Smith was translating. This experience strengthened Mary’s faith and helped her to keep going.

Just like Mary, as we work to build our testimonies — by praying, reading the Book of Mormon, attending the temple, and going to church — we will gain strength to continue in our labors.
Build your faith
Womba Nashiwaya and her family
Womba Nashiwaya, a student from Namibia, grieved the loss of her baby, mother-in-law, and best friend, who all passed away within two months. While grieving, she still had many church, family, and school responsibilities, leaving her feeling tired and overwhelmed.
Despite these challenges, Womba continued her education through
BYU-Pathway Worldwide
, which helped her to root her faith more deeply in Christ. She said, “From the first day, each week, each lesson, and each devotional was just what I needed to help me on my journey to self-discovery, healing, and drawing closer to the Lord.”
Like Womba, when we draw closer to the Lord, we will find healing and strength.
Gain strength
Vout Phea
Vout Phea, a student from Cambodia, felt overwhelmed balancing a full-time career with school. He said, “There were moments when I thought it might be easier to quit, but through BYU-Pathway, I discovered the power of lifelong learning and the strength that comes from trusting Jesus Christ.”
Vout trusted in Jesus Christ and received strength to finish his
foundational courses
. He said, “No matter how tough life gets, Jesus Christ is always there to guide us. This education became a reminder that hard work, combined with faith in Him, can create opportunities we never imagined.”
God will strengthen you
By sending an angelic messenger to show Mary the plates, Heavenly Father showed Mary that He is aware of her and her needs. God is aware of you and your needs, too. By looking to Jesus Christ and building your faith and trust in Him, you can gain strength to overcome every challenge you face.
See how gaining a spiritually based education through BYU-Pathway Worldwide can help you find strength through Christ.
