Here are three ways that BYU-Pathway provides students a way to achieve their dream of earning a degree:
1. Learn important study skills through PathwayConnect
PathwayConnect is a reduced-cost online program lasting one year (three semesters) that prepares students by first building foundational academic skills and confidence. The program also introduces students to online learning and does so at a manageable pace, allowing students to become comfortable taking university classes without feeling overwhelmed.
With each assignment students complete in PathwayConnect, they learn more and more about what it takes to be a successful student. With time and practice, study skills begin to form as students move forward in their PathwayConnect courses. These skills can be carried over into the online program.
Study skills learned in BYU-Pathway can be applied throughout an online certificate and degree program.
2. Learn how to involve God in their studies
Above all, BYU-Pathway’s mission is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ who are leaders in their homes, the Church, and their communities. Students build testimonies of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and are encouraged to live by its principles.
Unlike many other universities, BYU-Idaho and Ensign College online courses, supported by BYU-Pathway, are not an isolated, independent model where students study and work completely on their own.
Throughout the gospel-based courses, students are actively engaged in the learning process as they participate in collaborative discussions and activities with other students from around the world. Coursework incorporates gospel principles with assignments due each week, helping students pace themselves throughout the semester.
These spiritual habits can be applied throughout the online degree program. As students continue in their schooling, prayer and scripture study will still be a major theme in their education. They’ll remember how
