At the conclusion of Fall Semester 2017, 599 online degree-seeking students will complete a degree or certificate from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Among these individuals are 386 former PathwayConnect students. 135 of the graduates plan to attend commencement and convocation ceremonies live December 15 on the BYU-Idaho campus.
Of the 386* former PathwayConnect students completing a degree or certificate through BYU-Idaho, 209 are earning a bachelor’s degree, 159 are earning an associate degree, and 22 are completing a certificate. Students completing a degree or certificate represent eight countries and 36 U.S. states.
In addition, more than 1,500 students will complete PathwayConnect this semester.
Since PathwayConnect started in 2009, more than 30,000 students will have completed the program. Including the most recent totals, 2,799 BYU-Idaho degrees and certificates have been awarded to PathwayConnect graduates.
“It is exciting to see so many PathwayConnect students taking advantage of the academic opportunities BYU-Idaho provides,” said Jon Linford, online vice president. “I know the Lord will bless these students in their endeavors as they seek to increase their secular knowledge and become educated disciples of our Savior, Jesus Christ.”
83 former PathwayConnect students traveling to Rexburg, Idaho, for the commencement ceremony, will be coming from 17 different U.S. states and three countries — students will travel as far as Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Cuenca, Ecuador.
“Gaining an education and earning a degree took time and effort, but I am so grateful I started my education through PathwayConnect to earn my degree a few years ago,” said Cindy Johnson, an applied management major from Utah. “The knowledge I have gained will continue to bless me and those around me throughout my life.”
The upcoming academic term for PathwayConnect and BYU-Idaho online courses begins January 8. PathwayConnect is accepting applications for winter enrollment until December 19, and BYU-Idaho is accepting applications to its online degree program until December 22.
